The Northampton Microlight Club have been holding annual Flyins at Weston Underwood for many years, and more recently twice a year, sometimes trying other venues such as Kimbolton (in 2001 when Foot and Mouth prevented us from using WU) or Sackville. The high winds during Weston Underwood 2004 prevented most people from flying in but those who arrived by car still seemed to have a good time. This year the three main events are planned for Weston Underwood and hopefully the weather will be perfect for all events!

The Northampton Microlight Club have been holding annual Flyins at Weston for many years. The site is ideal for a camping weekend. Food is provided by ‘Fatbelly’ Pete’s Burger Van. Gut-busting food at very reasonable prices. Saturday night is usually ‘Takeaway’ night. Orders of Chinese, Indian, Fish and Chips or Pizza (plus Beer) are fetched from Olney and eaten in the Club tent.

As well as a Treasure Hunt, there are a few flying comps around the field. Spot Landing, Timed Circuit, Take off and landing over an obstacle, flour bombing etc. The take off and landing task (tried for the first time in 2003) gave much spectator amusement. The ground games also count towards your final score and there are Trophies for the winners. 2003 saw a record number (15) taking part in the comps. The high winds in 2004 limited the air element to ‘flour bombing’ but there were still the ground games.

Two 300m grass runways 02/20 & 11/29. Circuits 02&11 LH, 20&29 RH
Even with a light easterly wind there can be sink on finals to 11. Not normally a problem (unless you are a bit too low and a bit too slow and your brain and engine are only ticking over!).
The runways are solid but there are a few rabbit / mole holes in the grass so taxi with care.
Fuel – Mogas U/L in 20lt cans will be available during the Fly-in together with limited supplies of Shell VSX 2T.
Radio – monitor / blind calls on 129.825
